Directories

Directories are important tools to membership and academic organizations. Members' ability to easily communicate with other members is a key benefit. They also create a sense of inclusion and solidarity among members; serve as an opportunity to share important membership information (governance, locations, statistics, etc.); and are often a vehicle for non-dues revenue through advertising and sponsorship agreements.

Capitol Communications can maintain a database, make and revise survey instruments to collect data and update information, and record the data in page design or spreadsheet formats. Production schedules can be managed to keep large projects going over the course of a year, while meeting deadlines for conferences and meetings.

Correctional Directories

The American Correctional Association (ACA) published several directories including an annual Directory of Adult and Juvenile Correctional Departments, Institutions, and Agencies. This directory contained statistics on the demographics of prison populations in all 50 states, the U.S. federal government, branches of the military, and the Correctional Service of Canada, as well as, administrative and organizational listings, and contact information. Capitol Communications produced directories for ACA for over 15 years.

ACA provided Capitol Communications with various sources of data so that the information reflected in the directory was as current and accurate as possible. Capitol produced all of the tables and graphs, based on statistical data provided by each state, and created indexes of all facilities and personnel listed in the directory. Upon completion, Capitol converted the page information to spreadsheet and data files for use by ACA's marketing department.
